"Solid Brands is really me, Philip Teverow, working out of the
smallest room in my house. I love my work."

Philip is a product development and culinary brand management specialist. He has been deeply involved with manufacturers, distributors and retailers in the specialty food industry for a long, long time.

It started with an after-school job at the best fruit stand in Providence, and continued with running the non-profit grocery while a student at Columbia University. After an anthropology stint as a Fulbright Fellow in Transylvania, Philip settled in at the trend-setting specialty food icon Dean & DeLuca, where he managed and developed the branded products business for eleven years.

Since 1996, Philip has developed and operated specialty foods businesses across a range of categories and segments as the owner operator of Solid Brands. He has worked with leading retailers Whole Foods, Williams-Sonoma, Trader Joe's, The Fresh Market, and Costco; with distributors like Kehe, UNFI, Sysco and Haddon House; with specialty food co-pack manufacturers, licensees, and importers like Hain-Celestial, World Finer Foods and The Food Import Group; and with leading culinary names such as Mario Batali, Marcus Samuelsson, Marcella Hazan, Union Square Hospitality Group, and Smith & Wollensky.

Categories have included frozen and refrigerated foods, meats and seafood, spices and other dry ingredients, confections, bakery, bottled and even canned goods.

An avid cook, reader, and language enthusiast (he can get along in several languages), Philip volunteers his expertise to help the growing non-profit Hot Bread Kitchen thrive with its wholesale and incubator programs.
